New Capacity Will Bolster Existing Production of FeatherWeight™ Interiors Products
Greensboro, North Carolina—28 September 2010. TIMCO Aviation Services (“TIMCO”) announced today that its TIMCO Aerosystems Interiors Engineering and Manufacturing division will be expanding its operations by adding a new facility in Wallburg, North Carolina. The company plans to invest $2.75 million in the facility, creating at least 275 new jobs over the next five years.
The decision comes as the company continues to expand its business producing aircraft interiors products, led by its new fuel-saving line of FeatherWeight™ galleys, lavatories and passenger seating.
“With increased demand by aircraft operators and owners for Aerosystems’ new light weight cabin products and our interiors retrofit project capabilities, it became clear that we needed to add to our existing operations at our Greensboro facility and at our Brice Seating facility in California,” said Rick Salanitri, President of TIMCO Aerosystems.
The expansion will be aided in part by development incentive support from the State of North Carolina, North Carolina Community Colleges, Davidson County and the Town of Wallburg. As part of the incentive package, TIMCO will need to meet progressive milestones on new job creation and performance in coming years.
Kevin Carter, Co-CEO of TIMCO along with Ron Utecht, said, “Our decision to locate our expansion in North Carolina was made easier by the incredible partnership of state and local officials who have joined with us on the investment to grow the business and add new jobs to the community. Opportunities for new growth in our segment of the aerospace sector have not been plentiful in recent years so it is great that our partners share our vision and desire to take advantage of this one.”
The TIMCO Aviation Services family of companies includes TIMCO, one of the world’s largest independent aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (“MRO”) service providers. Its sister company, TIMCO Aerosystems, is one of a select few providers that can support its customers with a full spectrum of cabin solutions including state-of-the-art design engineering; interiors and structures manufacture including the FeatherWeight™ line of galleys, lavatories and seating; integration project management; and certification services under its FAA ODA Authority.
